SUMMARY:Effective PhD Meetings and Efficient Feedback in Doctoral Supervision
DESCRIPTION:Supervising PhD students is one of the many functions that make up an academia career. Holding supervision meetings can occupy a large percentage of our schedules; however\, supervisors and students aften avoid them (in favor of emails\, for example). On the other hand\, PhD students may feel that the meetings are not fruitful or even useful\, and supervisors may feel that PhD students do not make the most of the time allocated for the meeting. \nBoth may feel that there are not enough hours in the day to hold them\, along with other commitments and expectations. However\, the literature has shown that very few Higher Education Institutions issue guidelines for supervision meetings (Coutts\, E & Marshall\, P 2019; Woods & Berger\, 1988). \n  \n\nGENERAL INFORMATION:\nThe ‘Effective PhD Meetings and Efficient Feedback in Doctoral Supervision‘ workshop will be held online on October 9th\, from 2pm to 5pm. Her experience in academic writing led to her profound interest in healthier approaches to writing when supporting her peers\, both in lectures\, writing groups and through online training for doctoral researchers. She holds a PhD in Educational Research and a professional qualification to deliver online and residential academic writing retreats.

DESCRIPTION:Storytelling can help researchers communicate complex ideas clearly\, create relevance for different audiences and make their work more memorable. This highly interactive introductory workshop gives participants a practical foundation in using storytelling techniques for research communication and public engagement. \nRather than focusing heavily on theory\, participants work with their own research throughout\, starting with a short pre-work outline\, then progressively shaping it in the session — from a story-structured research explanation\, into a short\, audience-focused story with a clear narrative arc\, and finally into a format suited to a specific context. \n  \n\nGENERAL INFORMATION:\nThe ‘Storytelling for Science: Foundations’ workshop will be held online\, on April 6th\, from 9am to 1pm. DESCRIPTION:Doctoral supervision is one of the most determining factors for the quality of the doctoral experience\, for the development of independent researchers and for the attractiveness of doctoral programs.  \nIn a context in which Doctoral Education faces new challenges associated with internationalization\, open science\, artificial intelligence\, integrity in research\, diversity of professional paths and the well–being of doctoral students\, the role of the supervisor has become more complex and demanding. \n  \n\nGENERAL INFORMATION: \nThe ‘Expectations and Responsibilities in Doctoral Supervision‘ worshop will be held online\, on November 12th\, from 2pm to 5:30pm.
