SUMMARY:Data Management and Open Science at CIIMAR
DESCRIPTION:The ‘Data Management and Open Science at CIIMAR‘ course provides an overview of the fundamental principles of data management and open science. It addresses institutional data policies alongside national frameworks (FCT) and European guidelines\, emphasizing their importance in supporting responsible and transparent research practices. \nParticular attention will be given to the data management services\, tools\, and resources available at CIIMAR\, complemented by hands-on activities that encourage practical application. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with key platforms\, including PANGAEA\, institutional and international data repositories\, CIIMAR’s electronic lab notebook (eLab) instance\, and online tools for the development and management of Data Management Plans (DMPs). \n  \n\nGENERAL INFORMATION:\nIt will be a two-day event taking place on November 2nd & 3rd\, from 2m to 4pm\, at CIIMAR. \nThis is a free course designed for CIIMAR Researchers.  \nThe session can be held in portuguese or english\, depending on the preferences indicated in the registration. \n  \nNOTE: The registration is for both days. The attendance certificate will be issued if the trainee attends at least 80% of the total course time. \nIf tickets are sold out\, you can sign up for the waiting list through this link (you will be notified in order of registration). \n  \n\nDESCRIPTION:\nBy the end of the course\, participants are expected to be better prepared to organize\, document\, store\, and share research data in alignment with current best practices and open science principles\, thereby contributing to the visibility\, accessibility\, and overall quality of their research outputs. \n  \nTrainers: \nMaria Paola Tomasino is responsible for Data Stewardship and Open Science at CIIMAR-UP\, supporting researchers in handling their data according to FAIR (Findable\, Accessible\, Interoperable\, and Reusable) and Open Science principles. She is involved in national and international infrastructures for best practices in Data Management (e.g. GDI\, Biodata\, ELIXIR). Her research interests focus on microbial diversity in natural and contaminated ecosystems. She is dedicated to teaching and mentoring students\, encouraging outreach activities\, and promoting collaboration between scientists and the general public. \nCarolina Costa is a marine biologist with an interest in deep-sea ecosystems. She has a particular interest in the conservation of vulnerable deep-sea habitats (such as sponge gardens and cold-water corals) and the application of ecological modeling to study their biodiversity\, distribution\, and resilience. In addition to her background in marine ecology\, she has experience in scientific data management\, having worked as a Data Steward at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science (2022-2024)\, where she helped implement data management practices aligned with FAIR principles and Open Science.

DESCRIPTION:In an increasingly international\, digital and collaborative scientific ecosystem\, researchers online visibility has become a key factor in expanding professional networks\, creating opportunities for collaboration and broadening the reach of their scientific work. In addition to being a recruitment platform\, LinkedIn has established itself as a strategic space for researchers to disseminate scientific results\, share publications\, awards and projects\, keep up with emerging trends and establish contacts that can lead to collaborations\, project applications and international consortia. \n  \n\nGENERAL INFORMATIONS:\nThe ‘LinkedIn for Researchers‘ workshop will be held at CIIMAR on November 12th\, from 2pm to 5:30pm. Membro efetivo da Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses. Mestre em Psicologia Clínica e da Saúde (Universidade do Porto)\, com especialização avançada em Coaching Psicológico (Instituto CRIAP). Experiência em contexto clínico com a comunidade académica no ensino superior (estudantes e colaboradores)\, bem como com adultos no geral\, nas diferentes fases de vida. Experiência na área da psicologia do trabalho\, tanto no acompanhamento individual como grupal\, em contexto universitário e corporativo.

You’re glued to your computer\, working intently to finish that article draft before 5 p.m. so you can send it to your supervisor. Should you have pulled an all-nighter? Now you’ll have to make up for it and work over the weekend! \n  \n\nGENERAL INFORMATION:\nThe ‘Time Management and Procrastination‘ workshop is aimed for CIIMAR PhD Students and Post-Docs (priority to PhD students). Students of the BYT program are also welcomed to attend this training. \n  \nThe session will be held at CIIMAR\, on March 11th\, from 10am to 5pm. It will be conducted in english (unless all participants speak portuguese). \n  \nRegistrations: \n\nCIIMAR & IPMA: free\nStandard: 120€ (CCMAR have a 50% discount)\n\n  \nNOTE: The attendance certificate will be issued if the trainee attends at least 80% of the total course time. \nIf tickets are sold out\, you can sign up for the waiting list (you will be notified in order of registration). \n  \n\nDESCRIPTION:\nThis workshop aims to guide PhD candidates throughout their doctoral journey\, promoting productivity and reducing time to completion. It seeks to empower PhD candidates with tools to mitigate\, manage\, or resolve potential issues that may arise in the supervisor–supervisee relationship. Additionally\, it aims to equip doctoral students with strategies to better cope with stressors inherent to the PhD process\, thereby preventing burnout. \n  \nTrainer: Ana Salgado \nAna Salgado holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from University of Minho. With over 15 years of experience in higher education\, she has taught as a lecturer at multiple institutions. She has led pedagogical projects aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching. Ana has been actively engaged in designing training programs for PhD supervisors and developing courses for PhD\, master’s\, and bachelor’s students focused on transversal skills.
